As soon as you have a 3D Model at hand we can prepare the data for printing.
This Tutorial describes just the basic steps of 3D slicing. For more details consult the Internet (some helpful links are on the bottom of this page) or ask staff.

Slicing Steps
- Open the Prusa Slicer application
- The object you see is the so called “wipe tower”. It is needed only for mutli-colored prints and will disappear after slicing a single color object. Just ignore it.

- Import your STL or OBJ file via drag&drop
- Scale, position and rotate your object as needed (left toolbar)
- Try positioning your model so that there are as few supports as possible
- Choose a printing preset (top right)
- Thick layers decrease the print time but also the level of detail
- If necessary, use the print settings menu (top left) for more specific settings
- leave the “printer preset” on “Prusa CORE One MMU3 0.4 nozzle”
- Choose the material preset you will print with from the drop down menu of the filament setting on the right.
- For single material printing, we usually use only Extruder #1 (top slot).
- Select Extruder #1 for your object in the menu below.
- Material Details are written on the label of the filament roll
- Slice your object (bottom right)
- Save the G-Code to the USB Drive (bottom right)
- Eject USB Drive

Tips & Tricks
- make sure the model is touching the buildplate
- if your object has no flat surface, consider splitting it in two parts and placing the parts with their cutting edges on the buildplate (left toolbar). The parts can be glued together later.
- position your model so that there are as few supports as possible
- this saves material and time and leaves the surface of your model clean
- if there is an area of detail, consider placing your object in a way that puts no supports in this area (e.g. area of detail facing upwards)
- you can manually add or remove supports
- Feel free to slice your object multiple times for finding the right settings. You can always re-slice it and save the final version
- If you plan to print multiple objects or a series of object in the future, you can save your settings as a preset (top right). Make sure to name it so you will find it later.
- By toggling the preview bar feature on the right, you can see where there may be holes or elements that will not function under the laws of physics
- you may need to return to your 3D modeling application to make sure the shapes are closed completely
